Endodontics – Root Canal Treatments:

Book an appointment now and plan your treatment.

Root canal treatment (endodontics) is a dental procedure performed to save a tooth when the nerve (pulp) inside becomes inflamed or damaged.
The main goal is to eliminate infection and preserve the natural tooth — preventing the need for extraction.

What Is Root Canal Treatment and When Is It Needed?

Root canal therapy is required when dental decay progresses deep enough to reach the nerve, or when the pulp tissue is damaged due to trauma.
Patients may experience the following symptoms:

  • Pain triggered by hot or cold stimuli
  • Spontaneous, throbbing pain—especially at night
  • Sensitivity while chewing
  • Tooth discoloration
  • Swelling or abscess formation

Root canal treatment is the most effective method to save a tooth without extraction.

How Is Root Canal Treatment Performed?

  1. Anesthesia: The procedure is completely painless and performed under local anesthesia.
  2. Decay Removal: The decayed and infected tissues are cleaned out.
  3. Canal Cleaning: The root canals are shaped and disinfected using specialized instruments.
  4. Filling: The cleaned canals are filled with a biocompatible material (gutta-percha).
  5. Restoration: If the tooth structure is weakened, a crown may be placed after the filling to restore strength and function.

At Allianoi, modern rotary instrument systems and digital measurement technologies are used to shorten treatment time and increase success rates.

How Long Does the Treatment Take?

  • Single session: When the infection is detected early
  • 2–3 sessions: When there is an extensive infection or abscess

Each case is evaluated individually, and the treatment plan depends on the condition and root structure of the tooth.

Is Root Canal Treatment Painful?

With advanced anesthesia techniques, the procedure is completely pain-free.
Mild sensitivity may occur for a few days afterward this is normal and subsides quickly.

Root Canal Retreatment

If a previously treated tooth becomes re-infected, root canal retreatment may be required.
During this procedure, the old filling material is removed, the canal is re-cleaned and refilled.
The aim is to preserve the tooth’s function and aesthetics without extraction.

Post-Treatment Care

  • Avoid hard or sticky foods that may damage the temporary filling until treatment is completed.
  • Maintain excellent oral hygiene — brushing and flossing are essential.
  • If a permanent filling or crown is recommended, have it completed within the advised timeframe.
